Palestine Action blocks Elbit Systems UK site in Bristol protest

Palestine Action activists blocked Elbit Systems’ UK headquarters in protest of its role in arming Israel.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Activists from Palestine Action blocked the only entrance to Elbit Systems’ UK headquarters in Bristol, protesting the company’s role in arming Israel. The group shared footage on X showing the blockade at Guardtech, a subcontractor providing clean room services to Instro Precision, a subsidiary of Elbit Systems.

Protesters splashed red paint on the building’s entrance to symbolize Palestinian bloodshed in Gaza, while others climbed onto the rooftop. Palestine Action claimed the protest successfully disrupted operations at the site.

In a separate action, activists used a van and lock-on devices to block the entrance of Aztec West, another Elbit subsidiary in Bristol. Two individuals were arrested and remain in custody.

Palestine Action accuses Elbit Systems UK of supplying weapons to the Israeli military amid its war on Gaza. It says Guardtech’s services are essential for Instro Precision’s production of radar kits and targeting systems.

These systems include electro-optical sensors used by Israeli forces to identify and strike targets. Declassified UK previously reported that Instro Precision has been exporting such equipment to Israel since October 2023.

The protest coincides with UK Home Secretary Yvette Cooper’s move to ban Palestine Action under anti-terror laws. A draft order has been submitted to Parliament, with debates scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday.

If passed, the ban could take effect by Friday, making it a criminal offense to support or be a member of Palestine Action. The group has announced plans to legally challenge the government’s decision.
